Russia is also on track to ship almost 32 million m3 of lumber this year representing 23% of globally traded lumber Lumber production has fallen in both the US and Canada in 2019 because of disappointingly low activity in the US housing market and low demand for North American lumber in overseas markets.

Stora Enso to divest its sawn construction timber (KVH) mill at Pfarrkirchen to Dubag Group

The divestment is expected to reduce Stora Ensos annual sales by EUR 40 million. It will also reduce Stora Ensos KVH production capacity by approximately 145 000 m3 The divestment is part of Stora Ensos profit protection programme and it is in line with the Groups strategic transformation to focus on developing integrated mills for wood products production.

Housing Minister proposes legal change to build more homes using timber and reducing climate impact

Housing Ministry wants to use Public Procurement Act in order to increase the proportion of wood in the construction industry. Ministry has also shown intent to implement a new law in 2022 on climate declarations for buildings in order to reduce climate impact from buildings during construction. An important step on the road to a climate declaration is to start using the LCA method to identify and quantify the buildings climate impact.
