Finland saw a decline of 8% and 56% in timber exports and imports in 2022

In 2022, Finnish timber exports to fall by 8% to 14.95 billion euros; of the total value of exports, paper accounted for 26%, cardboard 24%, pulp 25%, sawn timber 13%, and plywood 4%.

The export value of woodworking products fell by 12% to 4.21 billion euros compared to the previous year; the value of sawn timber exports fell by 16%, and the volume by 2%. 

Timber imports to Finland also fell by 56% to 5.52 million m³ compared to the results of the previous year; most of the wood imported at the end of 2022 came from Sweden, Estonia, and Latvia which 36%, 32%, and 22% respectively.
