  • The real gross domestic product (GDP) increased in 11 out of 12 provinces and all 3-territories in 2021 with the only exception being the province of Saskatchewan because many parts of the Canadian economy emerged from the economic contraction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The province of Ontario contributed 1.79% to the nation’s overall increase in GDP of 4.8% for 2021 followed by Quebec, accounting for 1.12% points of the national growth, and British Columbia contributed 0.84%, surpassing Alberta’s contribution of 0.76%.
