Egypt's trade deficit rises 23% in September 2024, reaching $4.40 billion

In September 2024, Egypt’s trade deficit reached $4.40 billion, a 22.8% increase from September 2023.
Exports rose by 10.2% to $3.46 billion, driven by increases in petroleum (+146.5%), ready-made garments (+28.7%), primary plastics (+42.1%), and food pastes and preparations (+11.1%).
Some exports saw decreases, such as crude oil (-66.0%), fertilizers (-40.2%), fresh fruits (-8.8%), and iron and steel bars and rods (-14.0%).
Imports increased by 16.9% in September 2024, reaching $7.86 billion, up from $6.72 billion in the same month of 2023.
