Stz'uminus First Nation and BC Provincial government inked a new reconciliation agreement for economic development and future environmental remediation activities

  • The new reconciliation agreement sets a commitment to work together on community priorities and future land transfers, as well as providing support for economic development, and establishing funding for future environmental remediation actions in Ladysmith Harbor.
  • The agreement gives Stz’uminus financial benefits of $3 million to support its economic development endeavors, including the purchase of private land within its territory.
  • The province is giving Stz’uminus $10 million over five years to support Stz’uminus-led remediation in key Crown land areas of Ladysmith harbor to help the Nation’s land acquisition and management plans within the harbor.
