Toronto launches mass timber pilot program for affordable rental housing

• The 100-home project will take a new climate action strategy to provide affordable housing using mass timber and other low-carbon materials for building construction.
• The project can boost construction timelines, reduce cost due to efficiencies, reduce greenhouse gas and material emissions from the housing, transportation, and construction sectors, and improve the quality of life for future residents, all while optimizing the density of affordable housing on targeted Toronto-owned real estate assets.
