UK property demand grew 20% in January

- Buyer demand grew by 16% compared to January 2021, 24% in comparison to January 2020, and 41% compared to 2019 levels.
- In January, the number of new homes coming to the market for sale rose 10% compared to the same time last year, meanwhile valuation requests to estate agents grew by 27% compared to January 2021, 53% compared to 2020, and 52% compared to 2019.
- In the rental market, tenant demand grew by 17% compared to January 2021, and 33% compared to 2020.
- Average value landlords target increased by 9.9% in 4Q and 2.1% from the previous quarter, compared to a year ago, as the rise in rental values increased the cost of buying homes in all but three areas.
- The average age of a first-time buyer in 2021 was 32 who deposited a cost of £53,935 ($73,370) on a property worth £264,140.
