Belarus seeks alternate solutions to circumvent the ban on wood products and grow its domestic forestry market

  • Western countries applied sanctions on Belarus for its participation in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is now slowly having a big impact on all Belarusian industries.
  • The export program needs to rebuild towards the domestic market which in turn required a big restructuring of the timber industry market due to losses in profitability and additional administrative costs.
