China’s log congestion hits 85% as New Zealand timber piles up

New Zealand's radiata pine is the main cause of log congestion at Chinese ports, with over 3.4 million cubic meters waiting for delivery.

Each day, approximately 60,000 cubic meters are taken, indicating more than two months' worth of inventory in China.

With the constant demand for logs in China, the only solution to the current situation is to decrease log supply.

Despite efforts to expand trade with India and South Korea, China continues to be the top destination for New Zealand's logs, making up over 89% of raw log exports.
