Japan's Mitsui and Nomura sign agreement to buy new Australian forests

- New Forests has AUD 7.8 billion ( $5.8 billion) in assets under management across 2.7 million acres of investments.
- Mitsui and Nomura will fund New Forests for strategic growth ambitions and the global expansion of its investment platform and New Forests will leverage Nomura’s global distribution network, mainly in Japan and Asia.
- The agreement, which is subject to regulatory approval and will be completed by December 2022, will make Mitsui a 49% shareholder, Nomura a 41% shareholder, and the remaining 10% shareholding will be owned by New Forests’ staff.
