Poland to slash timber supply in H2 2025 amid strategic resource shift

A significant drop is expected in the supply of large-sized timber, especially oak, and pine—key materials for sawmills.

W-standard pine supply will drop from 1,323,597 m³ to 1,258,826 m³—a reduction of 64,771 m³.

This decrease alone could affect the operations of 4 to 5 mid-sized sawmills, says PIGPD.

Pine log harvesting will shrink by 50,803 m³ in the second half of the year compared to the first half.

Overall, the loss of large-size pine timber will total more than 115,000 m³—enough to supply 10 average-sized sawmills.

To offset this, State Forests plan to increase the supply of lower-value pine pulpwood (S2A) by 73,458 m³.
