In 2022, Russia increased sawn timber supplies to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by 17.84% to 1.2 million m³.

In total, Russian timber exporters supplied timber to 15 countries in the region; the most active growth was shown by deliveries to Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.

The main volume of exports fell in Iran (379 thousand m³) and the United Arab Emirates (334 thousand m³).

Many enterprises had to quickly switch to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa due to the change in logistics routes for entering the foreign markets of Russian lumber.

As a result, imports from the Emirates grew by 83% compared to the results of 2021, Iraq increased the import of sawn timber from Russia by 75% to 174 thousand m³, and Jordan by 45% to 173 thousand m³.
