Sweden’s Setra announces job cuts amid production slowdown at Hasselfors sawmill

Setra Group is adjusting production at its Hasselfors sawmill in Sweden due to weak global construction demand and economic uncertainty.

The company will reduce its workforce from 107 to 57 employees, with 50 people receiving termination notices.

Both blue-collar and white-collar positions will be affected by the cuts.

Sawmill production will be reduced to just over half of its current level.

The changes will be implemented gradually over a four-month period.

Setra cited challenges in aligning lumber prices with rising operational costs as a key factor in the decision.
