USA see timber prices increase to record levels of over 700 USD / board fee

The rise is over 100% due to good construction market The sawmills are now running at full capacity with an increase need for timber. First six months saw the record volume of about 450,000 m3 of wood products has been shipped to USA from Sweden, which is about 80% more than last year Canadian sawmills have cut production sharply due to a combination of low prices, high tariffs and shortages on timber benefitting European sawmills Important markets which are not showing real strength at the moment are Japan, China and North Africa as stocks are very low The Swedish Forest Agency's statistics show continued falling timber prices throughout the country during the Q2 The fall in prices has been marginal in northern Sweden, Northern Sweden's timber prices are at the same level as in central Sweden
