Chinese port's container volume registers solid 4.5% increase in 2023

Chinese ports recorded 4.5% YoY growth, handling 176.2 million TEU between January and July 2023.

The total cargo volume at Chinese ports surges by 8% YoY, amounting to 9617.1 million tonnes.

Container volumes at the Port of Shanghai rose by 4.1% from January to July, despite a slight YoY drop in July 2022.

The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan showed a modest 0.5% performance improvement from January to July.

Freight prices on the Ningbo Port to US East and West routes inch up slightly by the end of July.

The North American market experiences cargo volume growth in August 2023, while carriers maintain capacity control measures.
