CMA CGM has signed a deal with Vietnam’s Saigon Newport Corporation to develop a $600 million deepwater terminal in Haiphong.
The project includes the design, construction, and operation of Lach Huyen terminals 7 and 8, with operations set to begin in 2028.
The new terminal will have a handling capacity of 1.9 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
CMA CGM already operates 29 weekly services through seven Vietnamese ports.
The company jointly owns terminals at Cai Mep (Gemalink) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam International Container Terminal).
This new investment aims to secure long-term port capacity in northern Vietnam, a key area for fast-growing industrial and logistics activity in Asia.
