CMA CGM implements low water surcharge at Brazilian port

In response to low water conditions on the Amazon River in Manaus, Brazil, French shipping company CMA CGM is adjusting its fees.

The reduced water levels are affecting the ability of ships to carry and unload cargo at the Manaus port.

To deal with these issues, CMA CGM is introducing a surcharge of US$2,100 per TEU (standard cargo container) for all cargo types at the Manaus port in Brazil.

This surcharge will be effective from October 22 and is intended to address the challenges posed by the low water levels.

The objective is to handle the situation and ensure the continuation of shipping operations in the region despite the difficulties caused by the lower water levels.
