East and Gulf Coast dockworker strike talks set to reopen next week

ILA and USMX will restart talks on January 7, just before the contract extension ends on January 15.

The decision to resume talks happened quickly after the two sides had been informally discussing the issue.

Hapag-Lloyd and other liner operators announced container surcharges that will apply if a strike happens.

President-elect Donald Trump showed support for the ILA after meeting with union leaders.

The talks resume days before the contract expires, with both sides aiming to reach an agreement by the deadline.
