A pay deal has been reached with workers at the UK's busiest container port, the port of Felixstowe in which 90% of workers voted to accept an 8.5% pay rise plus £1,000.

Members of the Unite union at the Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk went on strike in August and September after refusing a pay offer for the next year.

Operator Hutchison Ports (UK) originally offered an increase of 7% plus £500.

Unite called for a pay rise of 10% to equal the rate of inflation and declared the port's offer was a pay cut.

As a result, 1,900 of the port's 2,500 workers walked out for 2 separate strikes, each 8 days long.
