Ships stranded in Baltimore port find an exit through a new channel

The Port's Captain has established a new restricted channel with a minimum draught of 35 feet and specific clearances.

The newly created channel boasts a 300-foot horizontal clearance and a vertical clearance of 214 feet.

The inaugural vessel to utilize this channel was the Siamaagracht, a general cargo ship weighing 23,741 dwt.

Other vessels, including the general cargoship Balsa 94 and the bulker Phatra Naree, have also departed through the new channel.

This limited-access deep draft channel aims to accommodate five deep draft vessels currently unable to leave the port.

Salvage operations for the stranded container ship Dali will temporarily halt transits on April 29 for safety purposes.

Unified Command personnel are working tirelessly to ensure the safe and efficient completion of operations.
