South Korean truckers voted to end the strike that disrupted supply chains as 62% of union members voted to cancel the strike.

On 24 November, truckers began a strike demanding a permanent minimum pay system, Safe Freight Rate (SFR) which was introduced temporarily in 2020 for a small portion of over 400,000 truckers working around the country.

The government increased pressures to drive more truckers back to work this week, as they faced the possibility of lost income and lost jobs, and associations representing the country’s shippers and carriers also backed the government.

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the Korea Shipping Association (KSA), and the Korea International Freight Forwarders Association (KIFFA) urged to end the strike as the backlog of cement, steel, and petrochemical products is leading to the suspension of shipping operations.
