Posted on August 8, 2022   |

  • 92% of the workers voted for an industrial action that will take place in August.
  • The conflict is between the Union and the Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company offering a pay increase of 5% to its workers, which is an adequate pay cut with the real (RPI) rate of inflation at 11.9%, as in 2021, the workforce received a below inflation pay increase of 1.4%.
  • Strike action will bring a halt to Felixstowe and cause major logistical problems for maritime and road haulage transport entering the port as Felixstowe is accountable for 48% of the UK’s container trade.
