The IMF expects Suez Canal revenues to fall to $3.6 billion in FY2024/2025, down from $6.6 billion in FY2023/2024.

Revenues are projected to recover to $6.3 billion in FY2025/2026 and reach $11.9 billion by FY2029/2030.

Red Sea trade disruptions since December 2023 cut Egypt’s foreign exchange inflows from the canal by $6 billion in 2024.

Transit trade volumes through the canal remain at one-third of pre-conflict levels.

Egypt faced estimated monthly losses of $800 million in Suez Canal revenue as of March 2025.

In Q3 FY2024/2025, Suez Canal activity dropped 23.1% year-on-year.
