U.S. rail strike averted, as major railroads and unions agreed not to strike

- U.S. railroads and unions with tens of thousands of workers agreed to not strike but union members are enraged due to tough work conditions and are yet to ratify their agreement.
- The deal includes 5 major operators which are BNSF, CSX, Kansas City Southern, Norfolk Southern, and Union Pacific, representing 115,000 workers.
- If the rank-and-file members of the different unions approved the tentative agreement, workers whose pay has been frozen since 2020 will have a 14.1% increase and seek certain types of medical care without fear of punishment.
- Unions that rejected prior proposals, will now vote on the agreement yet if some of those votes were to fail again, a strike would not be immediate.
