Egypt confirms $91 billion budget allocation for 2025/26

Egypt's cabinet approved a 4.6 trillion EGP ($91 billion) budget for 2025/26, aligning with IMF-backed financial reforms.
Government spending will rise by 18%, while revenue is expected to increase by 19%, reaching 3.1 trillion EGP.
The budget projects a deficit of 1.5 trillion EGP ($30 billion) and targets a primary surplus of 4% of GDP.
Public debt is expected to decline to 82.9% of GDP from 92% in 2024/25.
Subsidies, grants, and social benefits will rise by 15.2%, totaling 732.6 billion EGP.
Commodity and bread subsidies will increase by 20% to 160 billion EGP, with 75 billion EGP allocated for fuel and electricity subsidies.
The IMF recently approved a $1.2 billion disbursement to Egypt after its fourth review of the financial reform program.
