Alberta renewed the forest management agreement (FMA) for 20 years with Tolko, Norbord, and La Crete Sawmills

Posted on September 30, 2022   |

  • As per the agreement, the companies have the right to grow and harvest Crown timber from a forest management unit in the northwestern corner of the province.
  • FMA will maintain over 1,700 full-time, contract, and seasonal positions and contribute $48.7 million (CAD) in holding and protection charge payments, $433 million in timber dues payments, and $6.1 billion to Alberta’s GDP
  • The renewal of this joint FMA maintains hundreds of good jobs for Albertans and secures long-term investments in our forest sector and sustainable management practices for Alberta’s forests.
