Brazilian exports of wood-based products fell by 2% in value in August

  • In August, Brazilian exports of wood-based products fell by 2% to $404.6 million in value compared to August 2021.
  • Pine sawnwood exports grew by 8.3% in value to US$74.7 million and in volume, exports declined to 254,200 m³.
  • Tropical sawnwood exports grew by 1% to 35,700 m³ and in value, exports grew 25% to $16.2 million over the same period.
  • However, demand for Pine plywood exports fell by 54% to $50.5 million compared to August 2021, in volume, exports also fell by 35% to 127,100 m³ over the same period.
  • Tropical plywood exports fell by 44% to 5,200 m³ in volume and 34% to $3.69 million in value, and wooden furniture export earnings dropped annually by 8% to $61.8 million in June 2022.
