Australia unveils national timber fiber strategy to boost industry growth

The Australian government has launched the Timber Fibre Strategy to guide the future growth of the forestry industry.
The strategy includes 128 actions for both industry and government to build a sustainable, globally competitive sector.
It highlights the role of forestry in supporting the country’s housing needs and the national housing agenda.
The government is investing a total of A$300 million to support the sector's long-term development.
Over A$100 million will go toward research, development, and innovation through Australian Forest and Wood Innovations.
Another A$100 million is allocated to boost wood processing sustainability via the Accelerate Adoption of Wood Processing Innovation program.
A$73 million is dedicated to increasing future wood supply through the Support Plantation Establishment program.
A$10 million will be invested in skills development through the Forestry Workforce Training Program.
