Brazil's wood product exports drop 12% in May amid global demand slowdown

Brazil's wood-based product exports (excluding pulp and paper) dropped 12% YoY in May, down from $334.6 million to $294.9 million.

Pine sawnwood exports fell 13% in both volume and value, reaching 236,100 m³ and $55.7 million respectively.

Tropical sawnwood exports rose 41% in volume and 44% in value, totaling 33,700 m³ and $33.7 million.

The strong growth in tropical sawnwood helped offset some of the broader market decline.

Wooden furniture exports remained stable, with a modest 1% increase to $55.1 million.
