British Columbia introduced new support for forest sector manufacturers to boost jobs, strengthen supply chains, and promote made-in-BC products.

The province aims to position itself as a leader in mass timber innovation and sustainable forest practices.

Funding is delivered through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF), with up to C$11 million allocated to four major capital projects.

Spearhead Timberworks Inc. will receive up to $7.5 million to expand its advanced timber architecture capabilities.

Westlam Industries Ltd., a key producer of construction-grade plywood, is getting support to maintain a stable supply of building materials.

Mercer Celgar Limited Partnership will receive up to $1.75 million to upgrade its pulp mill, allowing it to process smaller logs and boost bioenergy output.

Greyback Construction Ltd. is set to get $235,000 to repurpose a former mill site for prefabricated housing production.

These investments aim to create and protect hundreds of jobs while modernizing BC's forest sector.

The initiative highlights BC’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and economic resilience in forestry and manufacturing.
