Brazilian exports of wood-based products saw an annual increase of 30% in March

  • The value of Brazilian exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) grew by 30% in value compared to February 2021 (from US$326.9 million to US$424.0 million).
  • Pine Sawnwood exports grew by 51% in value between March 2021 and March 2022 (US$73.9 million)and by volume, exports increased by 10% over the same period of time (from 249.400 m³ to 275.200 m³).
  • Tropical Sawnwood exports rose by 12% in volume, growing from 38,700 m³ in March 2021 to 43,400 m³ in March 2022, and in value, exports grew by 19.5% to $17.8 million over the same period.
  • Pine plywood exports saw a 4.0% increase in value in March 2022 compared to March 2021, rising from $82.9 million to $86.2 million due to high demand, and export volumes increased by 3% to 214,000 m³ over the same period.
  • However, tropical plywood exports fell -by 4.6% in volume but grew by 14% to 6,200 m³ in value in March 2021.
  • Wooden furniture exports fell from $63.1 million in March 2021 to $57.4 million in March 2022, which is a 9.0% decline.
