In April, Russian lumber exports to Japan fell by 22.1% to 58,400 m³ but imports grew by 5.6% to 395,900 m³, which caused Japanese building firms to look for alternative suppliers after the Maersk and MSC suspended transporting Russian lumber on March 1.
Russia produces 40 million m³ of lumber every year but in 2021, the volume of industrial production of lumber reached 30.6 million m³.
