Log and lumber prices rose again in Austria as uptrend persists

In March, Austria’s price indices for log wood and lumber continued to rise.
The log price index increased by 0.7 percentage points month-on-month.
The lumber price index saw a stronger rise of 3.4 percentage points.
In Germany, wood chip prices slightly decreased starting in April.
Supply and demand for sawmill byproducts have eased somewhat in spring.
Pellet mills and pulp producers gained better access to sawmill wood in April.
Germany saw a 4.1% year-on-year increase in building permits for single-family homes in Q1, with 46,100 new units permitted.
