Norwegian forestry hit a record high in 2024, with industrial wood sales reaching 11.97 million cubic meters.

The industry generated more than NOK 8 billion (EUR 680 million), a 33% increase compared to 2023.

Timber prices climbed from 602 NOK per cubic meter in January to 762 NOK by December.

The cost of sawn timber and pulpwood also saw significant growth throughout the year.

Bark beetle infestations in North America and Europe reduced wood supplies, driving up demand for Norwegian timber.

The suspension of Russian timber imports further tightened supply in the European market.

Norwegian timber exports to Europe grew steadily, but exports to China dropped by 34%.

Shipments of fir and spruce logs to China fell by 51%, while sawn timber exports decreased by 20%.
