Stora Enso finalizes acquisition of Finnish sawmill firm, Junnikkala

Stora Enso has completed the acquisition of Finnish sawmill company Junnikkala, a deal originally announced in October 2024.

The transaction is valued at up to EUR 137 million, depending on whether Junnikkala reaches specific production milestones.

The acquisition is expected to bring around EUR 15 million in annual synergies once Junnikkala’s new Oulu sawmill is fully running.

Stora Enso’s wood procurement in Finland will increase by 1.7 million m³ per year, boosting its access to raw materials.

The company’s sawmilling capacity will grow by 700,000 m³ annually, strengthening its production capability.

The new sawmills will be linked with Stora Enso’s packaging board site in Oulu, ensuring a cost-efficient wood supply for its recently launched packaging board machine.
