US imports of Vietnamese wood grew by 7% in December

Vietnam’s wood exports to the US totaled $887.4 million in December, a 7% increase from November and a 19% rise from last year.
After a 16% drop in 2023, the wood products sector saw a strong recovery in 2024.
The EU and US are demanding stricter wood origin traceability, posing challenges for the industry.
Vietnam's wood production in 2024 grew to 23.3 million m³, up from 20.8 million m³ in 2023.
The increase in production is due to ongoing investments in forestry and expanding plantation areas.
More than 80% of the country’s timber comes from plantation forests.
The shift to plantation forestry helps reduce pressure on natural forests and meets growing material demands.
