USDA to invest an extra $10 million in forest nursery and native seed partnerships

Posted on March 8, 2023   |

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will invest $10 million in forest nursery and native seed partnerships, with funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and of the total funding, $4.5 million is being invested in 29 facilities from states, US Island territories, and commonwealths to modernize forest nurseries.

$5.3 million will increase native seed collection and native plant availability to restore and support resilient ecosystems in national forests and grasslands.

These new investments will build capacity in public and private lands to fulfill reforestation demands and complement the recently announced $35 million investment in Forest Service nurseries in support of the National Forest System Reforestation Strategies.
