Canada to fund $12.3 million over 5 years to ease supply chains regulations

- Funds will go toward the government's new initiatives, improving rail, marine, and air modes of transportation.
- The government will amend the Canada Transportation Act to let Transport Canada offer digital service delivery to transportation operators across modes, saving time and money.
- Work towards a Maritime Single Window, a constant system that will boost digital information exchange between all stakeholders regarding vessel arrivals, departures, and stays.
- Cooperate with industry to eliminate paperwork and shift to the use of electronic shipping documents for the transportation of dangerous goods via road, rail, and air and identify explosives detection dog and handlers’ teams (EDDHTs) as an approved screening method to speed up the screening and movement of air cargo.
- Launch the Pre-load Air Cargo Targeting (PACT) to enhance the security of air cargo through the supply chain.
