Canadian dockworkers union, employers agreed to a new labor deal and prevents the strike

Dockworkers' union and port employers agreed to a new provisional labor contract, preventing the strike, but workers need to approve the agreement, who refused a prior deal.

The BC Maritime Employers Association and International Longshore and Warehouse Canada Union are urging the approval of the new deal.

The union represents 7,500 dock workers and decided not to strike until an approved vote.

On Sunday, 2 days after workers voted to reject the prior deal, the Canada Industrial Relations Board met with the 2 parties and helped them reach a deal.
