Canadian National Railway workers on strike after failed agreement on benefits and wages

  • The strike began on Saturday, involving 750 signal and communications workers after negotiations failed, and the union gave the company a 72-hour strike notice on June 15.
  • The strike can aggravate logistical bottlenecks which ultimately can contribute to higher prices. 
  • Canadian National Railway (CN) has implemented its operational contingency plan and ensured rail operations will continue safely and at normal levels.
