Port of Valencia's container throughput saw a decline of 6.3% due to fluctuating economic conditions

In January-May, the port handled a total of 2.2 million TEU which is a decline of 6.31% compared to 2021, but annually, foreign trade containers fell by 0.53%, exceeding 1 million TEU while import containers grew by 15% to over 865,000 TEU.
The full container loads transit saw a decrease of 9.91% (260,000 fewer containers), due to congestion at the Port of Valencia.
The war in Ukraine, the global energy crisis, high fuel prices, high energy costs, and the lack of raw materials impacted the economic conditioning at Valenciaport.
