Cargo turnover at Russian seaports experienced a decline of 3.8% during March-May due to Western sanctions

• In the last 3 months (March to May),  cargo turnover at Russian seaports declined due to Western sanctions after remaining unaffected from January to May 2022 compared to 2021. 
• The January-May figure reached 340.7 million tonnes, which is in accordance with 340.5 million tonnes during the same period of 2021.
• Western sanctions against Moscow affected the Russian economy, including exports of coal, oil, and petroleum products, while the world’s largest container lines discontinued cargo shipments to and from Russia.
