- The members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 19 barely approved the labor agreement with the US Class 1 railroad.
- So far, seven railroad unions ratified contracts that include 24% raises and $5,000 in bonuses, but all 12 have to approve contracts to prevent a strike.
- The deal the Machinists approved was the 2nd one they voted on after rejecting their first agreement.
- The latest deal includes all the raises and an extra paid leave day that was in the original deal as well as additional benefits including a cap on health insurance expenses.
