January-September saw a 4.0% increase in the Chinese port's container volume

  • From January to September, the cargo volume of Chinese ports grew annually by 0.1% to 11554.5 million tons and the container throughput of Chinese ports saw a year-on-year increase of 4.0% to 219.3 million TEU.
  • As regards container freight rates, in October, the average value of the Ningbo Container Freight index (NCFI) fell by 20.8% to 1390.9 points compared to last month.
  • The supply and demand relationship was unsteady, transportation demand was dull, and freight rates maintained a downward trend.
  • The average freight rate of 40GP from Ningbo Port to Los Angeles port and New York& New Jersey port in October fell by 74.4% and 34.0% month-on-month respectively.
