EU proposes the 5th sanction against Russia

- The proposal includes a new specific import ban worth EUR 5.5 billion, to cut the money stream of Russia and its oligarchs, on products from wood to cement, from seafood to liquor.
- In the sanctions list, the expansion of four more Russian banks is included, the banks have a 23% market share in the Russian banking market.
- A ban on Russian-operated ships from accessing EU ports but with certain exemptions will cover essentials, such as agricultural and food products, humanitarian aid as well as energy.
- EU will propose a ban on Russian and Belarusian road transport operators, which will limit the options for the Russian industry to obtain key goods, and the targeted export bans on advanced products, equivalent to EUR 10 billion.
- The counter-sanctions include a ban on the export of Roundwood and wood-based boards from Russia to Europe.
