IWPA and Vietnam officials meet to boost sustainable wood trade

The IWPA met with a Vietnamese government and timber industry delegation on June 7 in Washington, DC, at Forest Trends.

The meeting focused on advancing legal and sustainable wood product trade between the two regions.

IWPA represents around 200 companies, including US importers and global wood product stakeholders.

Discussions included policy changes, trade priorities, and future cooperation opportunities.

Vietnam highlighted progress on sustainable trade, including a Voluntary Partnership Agreement with the EU and a bilateral timber deal with the US.

Vietnam is also preparing for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requirements.

The delegation expressed interest in boosting US timber imports and signed several MOUs to support this goal.
