Malaysian and Vietnam timber and timber-based industries inked a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to grow timber trades

• The MoC is as per the Asean Summit agreement of 2000 where the Initiative for Asean Integration was launched to restrict the development divide and improve Asean’s competitiveness as a region.
• In 2021, Malaysia’s export of timber products to Vietnam reached $38.44 million and imports from Vietnam comprised of wood-based products totaled $148.25 million.
