Southeast Asian countries increased wood imports to Vietnam by 24% in April

- In April 2022, imports of wood from South East Asia grew by 24% to 88,000 m³, worth $31million, which is a 17% rise in value compared to March 2022.
- However, in the first four months of 2022, imports reached 296.58 thousand m3, which is worth $103.72million and are down 21.5% in volume and 5.6% in value compared to the same period in 2021.
- In the first 3 months of 2022, Vietnam’s imports of wood from South East Asia dropped due to a decline in shipments from Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
- In March, imports from Thailand fell by 23% to 36,002m³ in volume and 5% in value compared to February 2022 and compared to March 2021, imports fell by 54.4% in volume and 45.5% in value.
- In the first 3 months of 2022, imports of wood from Thailand fell by 29% to 126,390m3 in volume and 21% in value over the same period in 2021.
- In March, wood imports from Malaysia grew by 190% to 5,685m³ in volume and 163% in value compared to February 2022 but fell by 42% in volume and 34% in value compared to March 2021.
