Russian timber crisis to destroy Australia’s building and construction sector
Posted on June 27, 2022 |
- Australia's construction and building sector are struggling to fulfill demand due to high supply constraints, including timber, and is facing a shortage of skilled subcontractors and tradesmen.
- Russia and Belarus imported the laminated veneered lumber (LVL) and engineered wood products (EWPs) to Australia, which is 40 to 50% and is an essential material in many buildings and construction projects.
- However, the reliance on Russian imports can lead to a shortage of key timber products in the coming months due to which the importers are set to discuss the problem with the federal government next week.
