Southern Pine lumber exports drop 9% in H1, despite Q2 recovery

Southern pine lumber exports (treated + untreated) dropped 9% year-over-year in the first half of 2025.

By quarter, exports in Q2 rose 24% over Q1, but were still 6% lower than Q2 2024.

On a monthly basis, June exports fell 18% YoY and 7.6% from May.

In value terms, Southern pine exports totaled $108.5M in H1, down 7% from 2024. Mexico led with $31.7M, followed by the Dominican Republic ($22M) and India ($7.7M).

Treated lumber exports reached $66.7M YTD, down 4% from 2024. The top markets were the Leeward-Windward Islands ($10.5M), Jamaica ($8.3M), and Barbados ($6.7M).

U.S. softwood lumber imports slipped 5% YTD to 6.8 MMBF compared with 2024.
